    Economics of Fake Job Advertisements
Today I found a friend in a company and asked him that I had submitted my resume 10 days ago for the position for which I saw advertisement again. My friend inquired from the company’s HR department and told me that the position was already filled about a month ago, so I must not have got response from the company. He told me to go to company website where two position were still vacant. I applied from the company’s website. Will update if I hear some news. Same happened with IBM. I had applied by going on IBM website one month ago and I receive that advertisement for that position in email today. So the truth is most of the jobs on recruitment websites are already filled. I even responded back to the recruitment site that the jobs sent by them to me to apply are fake. I did an economic analysis why recruitment agencies publish fake jobs and my finding is that if we click their site for applying, that gets counted and it increases their site’s hit rate, on which they get more advertizing revenue. Thus job sites have a vested interest to send you outdated jobs. They are interested is in following things:
    1. Get you hired so that they can get their share,
    2. Get money from you if you are not getting a job by asking you to register for their premium service. Linkedin is also like that. I see it as greedy mafia because if job is there and you get hired, they will get the commission from your employer. So they will try to present you whether you take their premium services or not. But there are many job seekers, and if the website charges 100 dollars from each for placing in premium service, the website will get millions of dollars without really giving job to undeserving person. Undeserving person will not succeed in the interview.
    3. If there are no jobs, get at least the hit on the website from unemployed so that advertisement rates sky rocket. This fact gives them incentives to post fake jobs.
